Women to-day and that day – July 1st, 2008

Women in those days were not educated and skilled like the women of to-day. In that age, they had their own schedule.

They displayed their skills immeasurably through simple and inexpensive ways like cooking, sketching, handicrafts and others. Hence, they were not idle and led an active life.

Though most of them had not attended beyond Primary levels, they were good at verbal calculations and practical judgements. Hence, they never relied nor were assisted by technology.

In Those days, only the husband, the head of the family was the source of income. Still, they happily lead their life within their means.

There were neither Television sets nor computers. Still they were not deprived of entertainment. They played hand made card games, simple calculation games, and others.

They had friends and relatives as neighbours and shared everything with them. They never knew what was stress and depression.

As those women were primarily confined to their home, they took care of the elders and children in the family and so there were neither old age homes nor child care centres.

So women of those days, in short led a content, simple and happy life.

Women to-day are as capable as men. They are highly educated. They have all kinds of opportunities to excel in life. They earn money as par as their husbands.

So, to-day’s women are very different from those of that age. But, are they as happy as the women of that age?

These days, as most women are working, they hardly cook at home. They mostly eat out and seldom cook at home. So, they do not enjoy a good food.

With the advent of many television channels, each one wants to see the channel that interests them. Also now with much of technology engulfing, there are many television channels.

All these limit the time the family spends together.

With both husband and wife being busy, there is a little interaction between them.

With so much independence, there is a lot of differences of opinion, and so, divorce rates are augmenting.

There are a lot of old age homes and child care centres spread all around, as these days women are working.

With all the above facts, we hear a lot about stress and depression. To alleviate the stress, one seek the yoga centres.

Is this state a healthy one? Who has the answer? One has to cope up with the changing time. So, there is no point blaming to-day’s women for such a kind of lifestyle. If we do not go in accordance, there is always a fear that one would slip down. So, no point longing for what is not going to be applicable anymore.

All one can do is to learn to live a happy and balanced life and accept what comes!
