The STYC has completed its 62 years of it’s contributions amidst many historical changes in the wider Singapore society. It was conceived in the 1950s by youths who felt that the locally born and educated youths could not find a meaningful role in the many dynamic social and political events taking place in Singapore. Since then, it has undergone many transformations to remain as a viable organisation for Tamil youths.
STYC remains one of many youth movements that had played an important role in the projection of the Tamil community, balancing itself amidst the social, political and economic changes in Singapore. Currently, STYC is focusing on book publications and organising Global talks and seminars to empower youths and to shape their lives both socially and economically.
