SINDA organised a month-long Hari Raya Festive Gift Pack 2026 initiative to support 800 low-income families in preparation for Hari Raya. The initiative provided essential groceries and festive food items, easing financial pressures and enabling families to observe the fasting month with a peace of mind.
Mr Anbarasu Rajendran, CEO, SINDA, shared that through this initiative, “SINDA goes beyond merely providing material assistance, to also use this opportunity to support families in other meaningful ways and to convey to families that they are not alone.”
Running till 19 March 2026, the initiative brings together sponsors, community partners, students and SINDA volunteers in a coordinated effort to support families across Singapore. In early February, almost 50 Acetek College students worked alongside SINDA staff to sort, assemble and pack the Festive Gift Packs. Their contributions were instrumental in ensuring the smooth preparation of the packs for distribution.
Each gift pack is valued at $150, made possible through the generous contributions of Health Promotion Board, Mohamed Mustafa Samsudin Co Pte Ltd, and Syed Mohamed Traders (Singapore) Pte Ltd. The FGPs consisted of a carefully curated selection of essential and health-conscious food items such as brown rice, milk, biryani seasoning mix, dates and $120 grocery vouchers; for both daily needs as well as festive meal preparation during Ramadan leading up to Hari Raya.
The distribution on 21 February 2026 brought together over 100 volunteers from several organisations such as IMYouth, United Indian Muslim Association (UIMA), Singapore Tenkasi Muslim Welfare Society, Marwari Mitra Mandal, Singapore Management University (SMU), James Cook University and Aflaaq Stars who worked together with over 30 SINDA volunteers to distribute these FGPs at targeted locations. The distribution exercise will target multiple locations across Singapore to ensure that everyone receives timely support ahead of Hari Raya.
Kicking off the distribution, Mr Anbarasu Rajendran, CEO, SINDA, emphasised the importance of ensuring that the families feel valued and supported within the community. He highlighted that through such initiatives, SINDA seeks to build their trust by reassuring them that support is readily available and encouraging them to come forward to seek assistance without any hesitation.
Going beyond Hari Raya, SINDA adopts a similar approach in extending support to beneficiaries from different backgrounds during other major festive periods such as Deepavali and Christmas, ensuring that no one is left behind during celebrations. Backed by strong multi-level support from sponsors, organisations, volunteers, and students, these efforts reflect SINDA’s ongoing commitment to strengthening and empowering Indian families throughout the year.
