SINDA has revised its Per Capita Income (PCI) criteria from $1,000 to $1,600 to broaden its outreach to a more extensive group of beneficiaries.
The criteria has been increased to allow SINDA’s holistic range of programmes and assistance schemes to further reach individuals and families who might have otherwise may not have been able to be supported. The announcement was made at the SINDA Appreciation Tea, where SINDA recognised the invaluable contributions and support from over 400 individuals, partners and donors who have contributed to SINDA’s outreach and initiatives in 2023.
The revision in PCI criteria will expand the reach of SINDA’s efforts, uplifting a greater number of individuals and families within the Indian community to pursue their aspirations unburdened by financial worries. About 60% of SINDA’s programmes utilise PCI criteria and this increase is expected to extend assistance to 11,000 or 12% more Indian families in Singapore. Under the new criteria, families with a PCI of up to $1,600 will receive a full waiver of programme fees and are now eligible to apply for SINDA’s programmes and financial assistance schemes.
The event was graced by Ms Indranee Rajah, Minister, Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Finance and National Development and President, where she shared SINDA’s plans to increase holistic support for shifting demographics and the evolving needs of the Indian community.
