The People’s Association (PA) Narpani Pearavai organised its annual Narpani Community Carnival 2024 on Sunday, 14 July 2024, 9.00am to 4.00pm at the Palawan Green, Sentosa. This year, the carnival aimed to promote awareness about holistic well-being and the importance of family cohesion in our society.
Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Health joined more than 4,000 participants, including community partners, grassroots leaders, at the carnival.
Narpani Pearavai and the Indian Activity Executive Committees (IAECs) continue to play an important role in building a strong and cohesive community. At the carnival, they promoted healthy lifestyle among the Indian community and encouraged those eligible to enroll to Healthier SG and have regular medical follow-up for chronic illnesses. Residents had several health-related showcase by Health Promotion Board and Ministry of Health amongst others.
There were about twenty outreach and engagement booths by various organisations and agencies, which showcased the diverse Indian arts and culture such as Singapore Gujarati Society, Singapore Malayalee Association and Singapore Telugu Samajam. To encourage family bonding and healthy lifestyle, families with youth joined in a fun and interactive group challenge race. To complete the race, each group navigated to 7 locations within Palawan and Siloso Beach. At every location, there were clue leading the participants to the next location. Upon reaching each location, the groups uploaded a selfie to confirm their arrival and answer question(s) to obtain the next clue until all stations are covered.
