India’s 72nd Republic Day Celebration’s took place with a limited attendance of 50 people with a hybrid event, due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Chief Guest for the program was Dr Tan See Leng, Minister in the Prime Minister’s office and Second Minister for Manpower and Trade and Industry. Performances from various arts institutions was well received by public.
Mr Kumaran during his address to Mah Tujhe Salaam, an online program organized by Radio Masti 24×7, said that Since India became a Republic, it has made an impressive progress in number of areas. He said that today India is world’s largest democracy and fifth largest economy and while being an ancient civilization is also a dynamic society full of promises for future.
He added that the Government has undertaken a number of reforms to make India a much easier place to do business . He also said that despite the uncertainties caused by the pandemic, people of India have shown great resilience, the entrepreneurs of India have shown great determination and the citizens have shown great resolve to build on the games of the past decades to contribute for the development of the country.
He further said that India today is considered by many as the pharmacy of the world. In fact 60% of the global vaccine production comes from India. WHO (World Health Organisation) sources 70% of it’s essential vaccines from India.
Earlier in the day, the flag hoisting ceremony took place at the High Commission building.
