A vibrant celebration of Indian Folk Arts in Singapore
Anandha Kondatam – Singapore Indian Traditional Folk Arts Festival
Anandha Traditional Arts and Music Ltd (ATAM) is a non-profit arts organisation dedicated to preserving, protecting, and promoting diverse regional Indian traditional arts and music in Singapore. Their mission is to provide a platform to showcase various traditional folk art forms, archiving knowledge, facilitating artists in gaining market access, and strengthening the competencies of these artists.
On the 30th and 31st August, at the DBS Foundation Outdoor Theatre, from 6-30 pm to 9-30 pm, one can experience the vibrant energy of Indian Traditional Folk Arts, with rhythmic drumbeats and captivating dance performances, showcasing the rich traditions that bind our community together, organised by ATAM.
This celebration, will highlight how the community comes together by featuring a diverse array of performers, musicians, and dancers from various arts and dance groups, community organizations, and schools, as well as overseas artists from India.
It will showcase Indian traditional folk arts such as Kummi, Karagattam, Pinnal Kolaattam, Garba, Lezim, and Bihu, alongside Chinese and Malay traditional folk art forms, fostering cultural exchange and unity among different backgrounds.
In the Show A, Heartbeat of life, from 6-30 pm to 7-15 pm, the following art forms will be performed: Parai, pinal kolatam, kummi, tiruvatira, sakai kutchi, poikal kuthirai, Chinese Music Ensemble and Zapin Warisanku.
In the show B, Nature’s Rhythm, from 8-15 pm to 9-30 pm, the following will be performed: Silambattam, Oyilattam, Kolattam, Lexington, Karagattam, garbar, bihu and thudumbattam.
Admission is free.

The festival is co-organised with the Indian Heritage Centre, Narpani, SINDA and Umar Pulavar Tamil Language Centre. It is kindly supported by many esteemed organisations including National Arts Council – Arts Fund, stART Fund, Tamil Language Learning and Promotion Committee and the High Commission of India in Singapore.
