The Kamala Club Singapore, 71st AGM was held on 20th Feb 2021 with main Agenda of election of new committee members to lead The Kamala club for 2021 and 2022. The virtual AGM was attended by 35 members including life members, our esteemed senior members and the new members.
The new committee members including president, secretary and treasures were elected with overwhelming support from the Kamala club members.
The new committee immediately kicked on with their activities and had virtual meeting to get to know the elected committee members. They also had discussion for planning various activities for year 2021, shared highlights from 2020 events and the learnings from 2020 events. The new committee was also appraised on financial situation of the club.
The new committee acknowledged the contributions of their esteemed senior members whose hard work & charity work in community had put The Kamala Club as leading charitable organization in Singapore.
The Covid19 had big impact on the operations of club in 2020, including events and the funds raising activities. Despite all the challenges in 2020, The Kamala club managed to conduct virtual workshops for art/ crafts, culinary, dance, singing, health talk, yoga and meditation sessions. We also continue our monthly music meet called “Saragam” virtually. Unfortunately, they had to cancel events like International women’s day, Diwali dinner, Holi and State Theme event as these events were not practical virtually.
The Kamala club continues the charity drive in 2020 and donated funds to organisations like Migrant workers Centre, temple of fine arts and Krishna’s kitchen. The club members also made personal donations to these organizations. During Hari Raya eve on July 30th, 2020, the club members and their friends made home cooked desert and distributed to our migrant workers. As you know, during circuit breaker period of April to July 2020, thousands of migrant workers were Quarantine at the various locations in Singapore. The Club members, on request from Mindef collected good condition used clothes and helped in translating instructions for workers in their native languages. The Kamala club also actively worked with the High Commission of India in connecting stranded Indians who like to return to take Vande Bharat flights to various cities in India.
