The Tamil Language Council (TLC) proudly presents the 20th edition of the Tamil Language Festival (TLF) in 2026. As the TLC’s annual signature event, the month-long festival taking place from 28 March to 26 April, will continue to present a vibrant calendar of 43 programmes by 44 partners, rallying the Tamil-speaking community in Singapore to “Love Tamil, Speak Tamil”, and to embrace the use of their mother tongue in their daily lives.

In addition, the TLC will also brought partners together for a special outreach event on Saturday 14 March 2026, to create greater awareness and interest in the community for this year’s TLF, which is set to be an energetic, and vibrant celebration.

Theme for TLF 2026: Eedupaadu (Involvement)
TLF 2026 promotes the theme Eedupaadu (Involvement), and underscores the importance of active effort and participation in sustaining and strengthening the Tamil language.

Through this theme, the TLC aims to energise all segments of the Tamil-speaking community, from preschoolers and students to working adults and seniors, to appreciate, experience and enjoy the Tamil language, culture and heritage in meaningful ways.

Each year, the annual festival brings together community organisations, schools, arts groups and media to champion Tamil as a living language.

The 20th edition will continue to highlight this effort, with literary events, storytelling sessions, workshops, performances, competitions and interactive activities designed to make Tamil accessible and relevant to all.

“The Tamil Language Council is proud to mark the 20th edition of the Tamil Language Festival as a significant milestone. We acknowledge and appreciate the strong and collective effort of our partners and the community, who have strengthened the TLF from year to year, to ensure the Tamil language remains vibrant in Singapore.

This year’s theme, Eedupaadu (Involvement), is a call to action for everyone, young and old, to actively use, appreciate and enjoy Tamil in their everyday lives. Through meaningful programmes and strong community partnerships, we hope to inspire a deeper love for our mother tongue and ensure that Tamil continues to thrive for generations to come,” says Mr Naseer Ghani, Chairman of TLC.

He adds, “The Tamil Language Festival 2026 reaffirms the Tamil Language Council’s commitment to nurturing a strong Tamil linguistic and cultural identity in Singapore. Members of the public are encouraged to participate in the TLF’s wide array of programmes and join in our celebration of our language, heritage and community.”
