Maya Angelou once told “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you” which is absolutely true… and I am filled with untold stories. Hence to escape the agony the only way is to tell these stories out loud through some form and the form I chose was writing. I am Isha Nagappan… a normal 14 year old who is so passionate about writing. I have loved writing from a very young age, the only difference between then and now is that I used to write small essays and poems for competitions and diaries before but now along with competitions and diaries I have also professionally started writing. There is no greater joy than finding out that you can convert your passion into your profession and experiencing this joy in such an early age is a true blessing. I started writing my book Alisha when I was 13 after watching a TED Talk on Youtube where Adora Svitak, an 8-year old girl, was talking about how she published her first book and this got me thinking: If she can do it then so can I! And that’s how the journey of Alisha began. It started out as a hobby, a pastime, something I would do to escape reality and later when I completed Alisha I saw the possibility of sharing Alisha with the world too. This possibility seemed distant but nevertheless my mother and I tried and eventually published Alisha. To be called a professional Author is still pretty amusing for me but it makes me feel amazing. Alisha is a book about a teenage girl and all the problems she faces in her life, the aim of this book is for someone to relate to the small issues that this fictional character goes through which can maybe help them even solve their actual problems. Alisha doesn’t have the world’s best story line or perfect English or something specifically amazing but it is just my beginning. I am never going to stop writing…. I don’t know what the future holds for me but I am sure that writing will forever be a part of my life no matter what. As of now my plan is to continue Alisha as a three-book-series and then move on to other genres of writing. People say that a book is a person’s best friend and me being able to provide someone out there in the world with a best friend gives me utmost happiness. I would like to end by saying that If you have been brave enough to dream then be strong enough to accomplish that dream because trust me…. It’s worth it.
